It's not the SKILL, It's the WILL

And so it all begins again. I am Healthy, Strong, and ready to kick ass. The last month as gone by too slow. After returning from Spain I began rehab and after only 6 weeks I was completely healed and back in action. Thanks to the great work of Dr. Murphy and his staff I was back!! The boot came off and I returned to the hardwood to start playing and working hard for the upcoming season. The month of October was spent mainly in the gym and at USD working out with my boy Nick Uren. He has helped me get my shot as pure as it has ever been. His dedication to me can never be repaid and I appreciate it more than he will know. So with my life getting back on the basketball track I started looking forward to the upcoming D-league season.
I was to return to Bakersfield, they had kept my rights and really wanted me back. It was a good feeling because ending my season in Bakersfield was one of the best basketball experiences I have ever had. The organization is set to really provide us with every opportunity to succeed, building a brand new practice facility and office complex. Coach Scott Roth was also a big reason for me to really want to return to the D-league and Bakersfield. He is a good coach who runs a team as well as I have seen in a while. He shoots it straight and you always know exactly where you stand with him. There is no bullshit which I am glad to say is the thing that I have had enough of over my career. The focus is now strictly on doing all I can to play as well as I can. Playing ball has returned to the beautiful game I love. I was able to add 15 pounds this off season and so far have kept it on through training camp. I am stronger and shooting as well as I ever have. This is going to be a great year and we are going to dominate the D-league. The season starts this Friday at LA. From then on we start rolling. Games come flying at us 3-4 a week with travel and practices filling the gaps.
I have to say that after the last 10 days of camp I have truly found that this could be the year that things start to happen. Basketball is my life and my life is good right now. The road is long, the journey has begun, and the experience is at hand now to reach out and make it all that I want is all that is left.
Please feel free to leave comments as I have made it easy so you don't have to log in or anything just click and post. Love to all and have a great Turkey Day!

From - http://www.nba.com/dleague/games/20081128/BAKLAD/recap.html

"After a see-saw first half which saw 15 lead changes and six ties, Bakersfield put the ball in the hands of former D-Fenders center Nick Lewis who scored 10 of his 18 points in the third quarter, including two long from behind the arc in the stanza."

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!

18 & 8...

A fine start to the season...(although you NEED to average AT LEAST 10 Rebounds a game. 10 Rebounds a game = NBA ...15/18 pts + 10 rbs = NBA. Really. Do the math.)

OK

See on Friday in Anaheim. If possible try to see me before the game. We need to chat.

OK
Bye

OK

Looking better vs. Utah (what happened in Reno...Rickets?)...

Ummm... 2/4 on the free throws? You do know they are FREE right? So take them (make them).

So right now your averaging roughly 14/7. Close but...NOT. Get those numbers up. NOW. TODAY. OK? Thanks.

3-0 is great. I'm happy for you...for your team.

But it's "get to the next level time".

Don't get comfy being the undefeated D-League Supercool Dudes. Use this initial burst out of the gate to set yourself up to be seen...to be noticed...to be feared...to be hated.

HATE is GREAT...remember that.

Today's Lesson...

You need to overhear these words from the fans and the other team each and every night..."Hey, watch out for that NICK LEWIS guy" or "Keep an eye on the tall white guy" or "Can someone please stop OPIE from scoring on us". When you hear these words from the fans and the other team multiple times, every night, it means you are on the path. So make it happen. Make them pissed off @ you. Make them hate you...

Hate from the other team + their fans = NBA (more math...there will be a test).

So that's it.

It's time.
Really.
I am not kidding around...THROW THE FUCK DOWN...NOW!!!

You have worked for this now make it happen.

OK
I'm Out...

Yo Nick. Good start to the season. Way to play in Utah, keep it coming, they can't ignore 18 and 10. What happened in Reno, in front of all your people? Nerves? Dustin's right keep running, make them talk. Sorry we missed you in Reno, see you next time. Keep it up.

So Sherry & I got fucked out of a killer game from one Mr. NICK LEWIS (21 & 10)...35 miles away @ 6 miles an hour on the I5. I completely and totally hate LA traffic. But, Nick had a kick ass game and that is all that counts. We will make it up to you...promise.

That being said... Do not be satisfied with tonite. Use this as a building block and for the love of all that is sacred, do not go backwards. This kind of game has to happen each and every nite. No more days off (you have had 2 of those games this season...thats all you get).

Pedal to the metal. NOW. Cool?

OK.
More later.
Thats it.

Good game against Tulsa... 18 pts &11 rebounds! Keep it up! Not as good as the 21 pts in Anaheim, but they shorted you on the rebounds. I have never seen you look soooo good! Definately NBA material. Keep up the pts and rebounds...
